This label is obviously when Dr. Roddenbery included his brother in the business.

Dr. Seaborn Anderson Roddenbery started his medicine practice in 1862 in a horse-drawn buggy. In the same year he purchased a farm and sold open kettle sugar cane syrup from his medical buggy as he made his rounds. By 1867 he had an office and a general store that sold syrup from large cypress barrels, and people would bring their own jars and fill them with his cane syrup. Within five more years he had acquired 1000 acres and started to reduce his medicine practice, since he claimed 90% of his patients didn’t pay him. In 1889 Roddenbery marketed the first pure Georgia cane syrup as "Roddenbery's Old Plantation Molasses." Around 1920 the business became known as the W. B. Roddenbery Company. It was 1934 when the company expanded their product line to include peanut butter and in 1936 they added pickles. They continued expanding their products adding boiled peanuts, watermelons, and even cigars under a variety of labels. By 1986, the company was producing 45 kinds of pickles, 12 types of syrups, 4 varieties of peanut butter, and millions of boiled peanuts. In 1993 Dallas-based Dean Foods purchased the W. R. Roddenbery Company and about ten years later they closed the Cairo facilities.

WE GUARANTEE ALL LABELS TO BE AUTHENTIC AND AS DESCRIBED!

This wonderful collection of pharmacy labels is from the Newton Drug Company of Seattle, Washington. Included in the collection is Epsom Salt which softens the skin, soothes aches, draws toxins from the body, sedates the nervous system, relaxes the muscles, and provides relief from soreness and arthritic pain. Camphorated Oil which was used for centuries by herbalists and folk medicine practitioners to treat pain and inflammations. Copperas used in the manufacture of inks, wool dyeing, photographic developer, and lawn conditioner. Castor Oil most known for its use as a laxative, but also used to lubricate aircraft and wagon wheels, in lipsticks and shampoos, in making soaps and plastics, and for food additives and flavorings. And finally, Sol. of Formaldehyde, a poison used in tanning, preserving, embalming and as an insecticide for plants. Its largest application today, however, is in the production of polymeric materials, like plastic Bakelite. The drugstore was located in Martinsville, Indiana, which has an interesting history. In 1899 Eugene Shireman converted his swamp land into fisheries and started Grassyfork Fisheries which led the town to be dubbed the “Goldfish Capital of the World.” Martinsville also contained some famous mineral water spas which attracted so many visitors that the town still retains two nicknames from those days, “City of Mineral Water” and “The Artesian City.” Quite a story for a town of less than 12,000 people.

WE GUARANTEE ALL LABELS TO BE AUTHENTIC AND AS DESCRIBED!

This collection of vintage pharmacy labels are from Detroit, Michigan. It brewed beer with fresh spring water and aged at a cool temperature by routing the cool creek water through the aging room. The town grew rapidly and by the end of the year the brewery was in the heart of a booming town called Virginia City with 7,000 thirsty miners. The first ingredient used to brew beer was sage brush since supplies were hard to come by. They moved to traditional ingredients and Gilbert Beer was proclaimed by authorities to be among the best in the country. It was a profitable business until 1916 when Montana joined the prohibition movement. The brewery continued brewing but turned to non-alcoholic beverages such as Bromo Pop, Ironbrew, cream soda, root beer, strawberry soda, and ginger ale. The recipes, I guess were made in small batches before 1916, since we have a copy of the recipes dated 1899 (see photo). Unfortunately, these products did not generate enough revenue to survive the tumultuous times and the brewery ceased operations and closed its doors in 1934.

WE GUARANTEE ALL LABELS TO BE AUTHENTIC AND AS DESCRIBED!

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/1000/4391/5562/files/00aac2c2-il_fullxfull.1593849010_bke1.jpg?v=1780001757
vintage-buds-soda-labels-newport-bottling-works-1920s-root-beer-ginger-ale
Vintage Bud's Soda Labels, Newport Bottling Works, 1920s (Root Beer, Ginger Ale)

These vintage Bud's Best labels are circa Mid 1920s.
