Admiral Butterflies - 1951 Color Print
Historic Overview
This antique color painting (print) features colorful images of Admiral, Metalmark, and Hairstreak Butterflies. The print comes from the book A Field Guide To The Butterflies of North America, East of the Great Plains by Alexander B. Klots. The book was part of The Peterson Field Guide Series originally published in 1951. This is the Sixth Printing dated May, 1964 and published by Houghton Mifflin Company of Boston by their Cambridge, Massachusetts division, The Riverside Press.
This illustration is Plate 15, featuring Fourteen (14) butterfly images by Marjorie Statham. We have included the original page describing each of the butterfly images on the back of this mounting. The print is professionally matted in an 8” x 10” dark green colored matte to setoff the beauty of the butterflies. Our vintage prints are shipped in a plastic sleeve between cardboard stiffeners to arrive in perfect condition.
Keep in mind, an antique print will never be “perfect” like a new print and there are sometimes tiny occasional spots and/or discoloring or aging. However, we only sell mint or almost mint prints and will not sell anything that we would not be proud to hang on our own walls!!!
WE GUARANTEE ALL PRINTS TO BE AUTHENTIC AND AS DESCRIBED!
