Lake Wenatchee Pears - Blue label
Historic Overview
This is an impressive mint condition crate label measuring 10” Wide x 7.25” High from the 1950s. It features the image of a cabin beside Lake Wenatchee with the Central Cascades Mountain Range in the distance and a beautiful cluster of pears. The label was lithographed for Lake Wenatchee Pears of Cashmere, Washington by Schmidt Litho Company of San Francisco. This is the Blue Label, we also have the Brown label.
Local Native American lore claims that the name Wenatchee (Wa-Nat-Chee) comes from a poetic description of the area meaning “robe of the rainbow.” Which is appropriate for this lush valley sitting 600 feet above sea level. Today it is known as the apple capital of the World with over 170,000 acres of orchards including pears.
