Victor Renee Maine Sardine Label
Historic Overview
This Victor Renee Brand Norwegian Style Crosspack Sardine label is from the 1940s. It measures 2.75” Wide x 4” High and features a chef with hat on the label, smiling and making the hand sign of a perfect quality food. The label is very bright and Cherie with its red, light green, and yellow printing. The sardines were crosspacked in salad oil that was expressed from soy beans.
This sardine label comes from the Sunset Packing Company of West Pembroke, Maine. The Sunset Packing Company started operations in 1900 and was the largest sardine factory in West Pembroke. It also manufactured oils and mustards used to flavor the sardines. The Sunset Packing Co. had to close its doors in 1962 due to competition from Norway.
