Historic Overview
This label comes from the Newport Bottling Works in Newport, New Hampshire. It measures 3.5” Wide x 2.5” High and features the Dartmouth College pennant.
In 1922 the Newport Bottling Company started manufacturing carbonated beverages. It was initially established by Alexander Budnitz, as a grocery store to serve the needs of Polish immigrants, and eventually known as Budd’s Beverages. By the 1930s he had quite a few brands including Dartmouth Dry, Fruit Bowl, and Old Sol. Newport Bottling Works was also the distributor of Moxie and Coca Cola. With a bowling alley on the top floor to carry them over the slow winter months, Budd’s Beverages remained in business until 1972.
