This beautiful label dates back to the 1940s and measures 12.5” Wide x 8.75” Tall. It is in mint unused condition from the famous lemon growing area of Santa Barbara County, California. It was grown and packed by Goleta Lemon Association and shows the lemon trees rowed in the valley.
The Goleta Lemon Association began in the late 1800s and grew to eventually include more than 2500 acres, about three-fourths of the valley's crops. Their lemons were wrapped in yellow or white tissue paper called onion skins and shipped to the Chicago market. They continued until 1976 when they were purchased by interests in the Central Valley and later sold to the Santa Barbara Lemon Association, which operated until 1986. This is one large pretty label to display or decoupage onto a serving tray.
