Dog Rose - 1947 Colored Engraving
Historic Overview
This antique color engraving has lovely pink flowers with yellow centers. The print comes from the book Wild Flowers in Britain by Geoffrey Grigson which was first published in 1944. This is the Fourth Impression dated 1947 and printed in Great Britain by Clarke & Sherwell LTD. Northhampton on Mellotex Book Paper made by Tullis Russell & Co. LTD. Markinch, Scotland. The book was part of a series called Britain in Pictures.
This plate is Dog Rose, taken from a colored engraving by A. Parsons 1847-1920 from E. Willmott’s book, The Genus Rosa. The print is professionally matted in an 8” x 10” burgundy colored matte to setoff the beauty of the image. Our vintage prints are shipped in a plastic sleeve between cardboard stiffeners to arrive in perfect condition.
Keep in mind, an antique print will never be “mint” like a new print and there are sometimes tiny occasional spots and/or discoloring or aging. However, we will not sell anything that we would not be proud to hang on our own walls!!!
WE GUARANTEE ALL PRINTS TO BE AUTHENTIC AND AS DESCRIBED!
